...Why dont these exist?
I've been searching all day. Only amp you can get in standard pedal format is a GUITAR pedal called the 44 magnum. I bet it sounds like ASS for bass guitar.
Heres my beef- they can get 1000 watts into a 4 lb, 8 inch by 8 inch by 2 inch high package. Why cant they jam 200 watts of class D power into a guitar pedal?
OK maybe you need two side by side pedals, the amp and the power supply.
Issue is, i have a bass and a 1x12 cab in the Philippines. Wife gripes about my class D head taking up luggage space, shit costs a lot of $$$ to get to the Philippines.
From a tech standpoint, I should be able to bring a pedal sized amp.
Lets solve this problem.

Lets solve this problem. The power supply IS the primary issue. GK makes some micro heads such as the fusion. Tube AND solid state. Pretty powerful for something you can slip into a gig bag, but, the RATED power is truthfully not the same as a proper head. Toroidal transformers FTW.

GK's mb200 is about as small as they come, especially if you take the rubber feet off.
These little class D's are the power supply and poweramp all on one circuit board. Thing is, for only slightly more expense and slightly more size, they can add the pre and have a whole amp. Can sell a lot more complete amps for $300 than you can just power sections for $250.
Also watts don't make sound, speakers do. Watts is simply voltage squared divided by impedance. The power is there.

Or even simpler, sell the cab you've got, and replace it with a powered PA monitor. Bring preamp pedal, like above. Job done.

Lol, I know. Moment of clarity, and all that...
And that stuff is good quality. People use that stuff in some pretty high-end systems.

DFB is on it. Guys who know more than me say some of those modules are almost plug-n-play. Case it and add jacks.
Most of these amp companies use Hypex or IcePower modules like that and tweak them to their designs. They don't make their own from scratch.

You'll need a cooling scheme in your case as well. Fan and proper venting. Little more diy action there.
Would be a pretty neat little unit, but I doubt you'd save any money or size over gk's little 200-watter. Could go in the effects return with your own pre if you like.

Does the Phillipines have much for used gear you could just pick up an old beater amp there and leave it or is that kind of stuff expensive or rare?
They must have musicians who must have gear.
Journey found one.

The Ucd modules run fine without fans, all they need is a little bit of venting. The Ncore modules run a bit hotter.

Interesting. I figured fan cooling would be easier for a semi-skilled diy'er to get right than heatsinking.
