I played my faux fender with roundwounds last night at practice. Low strings sounded...brittle.
Same dilemma - i love flats on B,E,and A. I love the poppy sound of rounds on D and G.
Whats the most flatwound sounding full round?

The warmest ones I've tried are the DR Sunbeams, which I know you're already well acquainted with. They also sound nothing like flats. I think you're just gonna hafta kill a set. Marinate them in butter, maybe.

I put the flats on the bottom left rounds on the top, details in the mixed set thread. I fukkn love it! Playing along to James Brown Cold Sweat part II.

I don't try a ton of strings, but a two year old set of fender nps is as close as I have come to it. They go really dead within two weeks for me, but keep getting more and more dead until they get pretty close to lifeless.
I've got a 3 year old set on my g&l IIRC.
