In the late 80s and early 90s, Peavey honored fusion bassist Tim Landers with two signature models- the TL-5 and TL-6. These were modern neck through multiple piece neck maple instruments with ebony or Maccasar ebony fingerboards, active passive electronics, the works for modern basses of that era.
I've wanted one of these since they came out, preferably a TL-5. They trade around $600 on Ebay. If I recall, street was around $800-900 when they were new in shops. 10 days ago there was a red TL-6 on ebay, for $285 buy it now. Had a visible but Luthier correct crack repair below the headstock on the neck. Translucent red with double P pickups. Dude lowered it to $275 buy it now. I fretted over the wife and had an inspiration- texted the bro in law- "you want my Wishbass 6 for $250?" He'd been eyeballing it for a decade. Done deal. Differential was $39. I also bought a Levi's strap and Dunlop straplocks. All in all about $100 out of pocket.
This thing is the real deal for modern fusion tones both plucked and slapped. My preamp aversion is covered with the preamp defeat switch, if I start hyperventilating due to artificially stimulated tones I can always kill the preamp and make it sound more dull. Pics later today. My one BEEF with this bass is a lackluster B string. I have no idea what the gauge of the strings is but I'm considering throwing a set on that has a .135. Anyone have luck swapping out pickups and boosting a weak B?

TL-SIX Review: Appearance, fit, finish 4.3 out of 5 so red! Tiny bit of flame on the body, enough poly to make it through nuclear winter. Ergonomics 4 out of 5 im guessing 9.5 lbs, slight neck dive welcome to 6 string world. Sound 4 out of 5 can get any modern sound, with or without the preamp. Very bright, as should be expected with maple and ebony.
Overall, this is one of the best basses I've ever gotten for $275. one of the best basses Peavey ever made during their golden Made In The U.S.A. days.

Players review: She's a keeper! After my Warwick debacle, i was wary of ever getting a fretted 6 string bass again. This bass is very very nice. A bit unwieldy for me at five seven 150 lbs, but I don't forsee any 4 set GB gigs anytime in my future. I love to slap, and she's a slappers delight. The C string gets in the way a little when I'm popping the G but I'll get used to it. I also have an irrational dislike of preamps on a fretted bass. I think I've been burned in the past by cheap preamps. The TL-SIX seems to enhance the midst lows and highs instead of artificially coloring them. Need to put some woodshed time in on her- I'll be back.

Interesting bass with those two P-pups.
The hardest thing for me to get used to when slapping a six was the string spacing. I really had to improve my technique and make it more precise. In fact, I still get a bit sloppy with it nine years later, but I've been really focusing on this issue lately in the woodshed, and making progress.
