30 months ago I bought a loaded Sonic Blue jazz bass body off eBay. It's a 5er.
Someone donated a neck and I began to tongue oil it badly.
A few months ago I noticed the same vendor was selling matching necks.
$77? Hell to the yeah!
The neck arrived perfect. The vendor had left the G string tuner off to make it fit in a standard 4 string neck box.
Installing the tuner was a 30 second piece of cake!
Next was the neck installation. These parts are advertised as "Japanese aftermarket" lol. Is China an aftermarket for Japan?
Anyways, I put the 4 bolts through the neck plate and tightened with the black and Decker electric screwdriver.
Not a match! The fingerboard should run parallel with the top of the body.
Ive read enough TB posts on neck installation to know shimming is pretty standard. I shimmed the shit out of this thing. I performed about 5 different neck installations​ to get it shimmed even with the body.
My end result was playable, but not great. High action and I maxed out the bridge trying to get it lower.
